This video will show you how to create a link to World Book Online, so you do not have to enter the password each time you use the link. This video is created on an iPad, but the same link will work with any web browser and any device.
Everyone has a library management system. I was recently amazed by how many companies there are providing so many products. We all know how they work. They allow you and your students to search for a topic and find all the books in your library on that topic. But what if they could see results from your online databases as well? This is what a federated search does.
I love the look of the new World Book Online sites. My favourite site is World Book Student mainly because it was the first site launched in Australia back in 2000. Over the last 15 years, the site has had many changes to keep up with changing technology, and has ways to make the information easy to find and explore.
During my training sessions with teachers, there are a lot of "ooh aah" from the audience. One of those features is the page showing all the Australian articles. Teachers say it's also one of the main reasons why they switch from other databases.
